Pain of the people of Uttrakhand today, which has become a home of barren fields with no or little agricullutue. Mass tourism with touirsts who are not contributing much accept tarffic jams with uncontrlled traffic making life of a local complete hell. Locals in the tourist areas can not walk out of their homes today.

The Beatles ashram, officially known as the Chaurasi Kutia ashram, is located in Rishikesh, India, near the banks of the Ganges River and the foothills of the Himalayas. It gained worldwide fame in the 1960s when The Beatles, along with other celebrities, visited the ashram to study Transcendental Meditation under the guidance of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Here are some key details and history:

Foundation: The ashram was founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the 1960s as an international academy for meditation. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was a spiritual leader who popularized Transcendental Meditation (TM) worldwide.
The Beatles' Visit: In February 1968, The Beatles, along with their partners and other celebrities, including Mia Farrow and Donovan, visited the ashram to attend an advanced Transcendental Meditation training session with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. They spent about six weeks there.
Creative Retreat: The time spent by The Beatles at the ashram was highly productive creatively. They wrote many songs during their stay, including most of the tracks for their famous "White Album."
Abandonment and Disrepair: The ashram was abandoned in 1997 and fell into disrepair after the lease expired. It became overgrown and was taken over by the forest department.
Rejuvenation: In recent years, efforts have been made to restore the ashram and open it to the public. It was reopened officially to visitors in December 2015 under the management of the Uttarakhand Forest Department. However, it's now commonly referred to as the "Beatles Ashram" due to its association with the band.
Tourist Attraction: Today, the Beatles ashram has become a popular tourist attraction in Rishikesh. Visitors can explore the graffiti-covered buildings, meditation caves, and remnants of the ashram's past.
